Goal:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our main overall goal is to build an Upper Pleistocene paleosoil database, from dunes and sandy terrains in Europe. In this single-year project, we aim to set first steps towards applying for a multi-year project. The starting point for building the database will be situated in the southern Pannonian Basin. Therefore, the specific goals of this workshop are:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Collecting data on already published research results on Late Glacial palaeosoils intercalated in aeolian sands and dunes;\u00a0<\/li>\n
  2. Start building the current Late Glacial aeolian sand-intercalated palaeosoil database;<\/li>\n
  3. Presentation of results to scientists with experience in the investigation of Late Glacial palaeosoils intercalated in sands and researchers interested in this topic;<\/li>\n
  4. Extending the scope of the project to include new collaborators and locations across Europe;<\/li>\n
  5. High-resolution comparison of abrupt climate change as recorded in palaeosoils from the \u0110ur\u0111evac Sands and Deliblato Sands, taking into account the specific geological and pedological diversity, geographical position, geomorphology and climate diversity of Croatia and Serbia, and improving their visibility and attractiveness for visitors;<\/li>\n
  6. Connecting the management and experts of protected areas to exchange experience and apply good practice;<\/li>\n
  7. Education and awareness among young people about the importance of their area\u2019s geological and geomorphological heritage and education about the dynamics of climate change that took place there.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Organisation:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    We plan to organise a workshop and a field trip in the Deliblato Sands in Hotel Plava Dama, and in the Info Centre of the Special Nature Reserve \u201cDeliblatska Pe\u0161\u010dara\u201d.<\/p>\n

    The workshop would last 3 (5) days. It will be organised in May. European experts and scientists who are investigating Late Pleistocene and Holocene sands and intraformational soils are invited, as well as the Association of Friends of the \u0110ur\u0111evac Sands, the Special Geographical-Botanical Reserve \u0110ur\u0111evac Sands, Forests of Serbia, local authorities from protected areas of Croatia and Serbia and the interested public. One day of presentations and two days of field trips (three locations: Labudovo Okno, Dubovac and Grabovac) are planned. The remaining two days are intended to present the geological development of the region (ECR from Serbia) in an age-appropriate manner in the regional primary schools (for specific local participants only).<\/p>\n
